Global IPTV market revenues are forecasted by MRG to grow from US$12 billion in 2009 up to US$38 billion in 2013 (compound annual growth rate of 33%).

With these updates MRG has drawn a significantly more optimistic picture compared to it's forecast earlier this year - specifically with it's new revenue forecast. In May 2009 MRG was already forecasting the number of global IPTV subscribers to grow from 26.7 million in 2009 to 81 million in 2013, but the global IPTV revenues were at that time only estimated to grow from $6.7 billion in 2009 to $19.9 billion in 2013 (compound annual growth rate of 31%).

Based on the May 2009 forecast MRG had split up the market into 4 regions around the world: Europe, Asia, North America and Rest of World - with Europe and Asia as leading segments in terms of the over-all number of subscriber.

In terms of service revenue, Europe and North America are expected to generate a larger share of global revenue, due to very low ARPUs in China and India, the fastest growing (and ultimately, the biggest markets) in Asia.
